North Allegheny board hires construction manager for renovation projects

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The North Allegheny school board Wednesday hired Massaro Construction Management, LLC, to act as construction manager for the renovations of Bradford Woods and Marshall elementary schools and Marshall Middle School.

Massaro will be paid $608,910 to provide the necessary preconstruction, bidding, construction oversight and project close-out services for the projects.

Robert Gaertner, director of buildings and grounds for the district, said Massaro was one of two firms to respond to a proposal request, and was the only one to visit the three schools before bidding.

The estimated $23 million in renovations to the schools will be funded by a future bond issue. All three schools were built or last renovated in the early 1990s.

The school board last month hired WTW Architects to design the renovations.
